The Studio

b. 1986, HK.

Established by Sarah Marque, DOMICILE is a creative workplace and interior design studio based in Chicago, focused on livable, casual, warm and elegant design for families and individuals.

DOMICILE Design was founded to create interiors that tell the story of their inhabitants, to reflect the personality of each individual and exhibit the character of the space since a home reveals the essence of who you are (and what you like.) We strive to bring elegance and poetry to a space without compromising on a family friendly atmosphere.

At DOMICILE, we don’t limit our freedom to one style, pulling from so many genres, disciplines and periods. Our job is to figuring out how to make your home as unique as you are. Emotional design is key to our work and dictates our process of selecting materials, finishes and fabrics.

« Sarah brings a multicultural, thorough, and adventurous approach to every space she transforms- mixing many different feels and aesthetic together in the best possible way.” »

Sarah is known to create a certain degree of eclectic whimsy, always intertwining with elements of old with the new. Her dynamic style and unique approach to interiors comes from her personal background and her diverse career path.

Born in Lyon, France, Sarah graduated with a Master in Marketing and Merchandising from Toulouse Business school. She later worked in Paris for several years. In 2011, she moved to Chile for love. Love for her husband and love for changes and adventures. In 2013, they decided to keep moving and go to Chicago. Sarah graduated with a Certificate in Interior design from the School of the Art Institute. Following her studies, she worked as an home stylist for Land of Nod and subsequently went on to work for Crate and Barrel as a Digital Interior Designer.

She has been collecting and inheriting objects since she was a teenager. She brings her love of colors, her obsession with materials and textures, vintage treasures and adventure to her work. To give layers of character to a space, exploring the limits of the “too much-”.

She combines her extensive experiences both in Europe, South America and in the U.S. to carve a signature style into the industry..
